Bio

My name is Caryn Dugo, and I am originally from Chicago, IL, although I am currently living in Colorado. My family ties are definately midwest, (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania) but I am only 3rd generation American born. The family names I am researching are both Sicilian (Altavilla Milicia) and Northern Italian (Pont Canavese north of Turin), and Polish--Dugo (D'Ugo), Picchiottino (and shorter spellings), Bausano, Chiovino, Tarasiuk, Swiokla, Szwedka. I have been lucky enough to find cousins on both sides of the Atlantic, ranging from 3rd to 5th generation.

Since my great grandparents on my Dad's side came from the town of Altavilla Milicia Sicily, and I have access to some of the birth, marriage and death records from that town and access to some death records in Chicago and Pittsburgh, I had started adding memorials for people who were born in Altavilla. Then it grew to families from other small towns near Altavilla. There are a whole lotta families from that area of Sicily in Chicago and Pittsburgh! Then another volunteer started taking pictures of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Pittsburgh, and I started doing some entry work for those pictures he took. Unfortunately, sometimes the angle of the picture isnt totally legible (my eyes arent the best anymore either), so if you find that I have made an error or would like a transfer of the memorial of your relative, please send a note thru the EDIT button. I will transfer, as long as they are not related to me. PLEASE do not make requests thru the message page. Requests made here will not be responded to.

Joining findagrave has been something I could really get into, as I have sooo much information, and needed a place to share it. I especially love the older cemeteries with the monuments that have pictures embedded in them. It gives me more of a feeling of family, rather than just dealing with names and dates. For me, Genealogy is more of a passion than a hobby.

Thank you so much to all the volunteer photographers! You dont know how much I appreciate you guys getting the pictures I cant!!
