I have been interested in genealogy since I was a teenager. My grandmother always said her husband, my grandfather, was from Norway. It wasn't until many years later that I realized she meant Norway, NY and that his family was actually German! While, I still haven't made much progress on the Wohler family line, I have been able to go back many generations on other lines (Preston, Hodge, Grower, Woods, Baker, McCombs, Frank). Many times the information was found due to someone taking the time to make a cemetery transcription or cutting an article from an old newspaper. I work at the local library and have two children (that have been exposed to local history since they were little and are still willing to go visit cemeteries with me). Most of my research is local or on-line, so getting help through F-A-G is a tremendous help. I hope to help someone by getting some photos or adding the burial record that will help someone scale their brick wall.
I am not related to most of these memorials! I willingly transfer to reconnect them with their families.
Another great site to check out is www.fultonhistory.com.
