Bio

Hi, I stumbled across Find a Grave by accident and liked it so much that I became a contributor. I have been fascinated reading the obits in the virtual cemetery. I guess it must be the history major in me. One of my most enjoyable pasttimes is reading. I especially enjoy histories and mysteries. My interest in history is mostly about American history, especially the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln. Reading about both has turned me into an ardent Unionist and Lincoln fan. The Union forever!

I was born in Ogden, Utah to an Air Force sergeant and his wife, James and Maxine (Swift) Entwistle. Consequently, I lived in several states and overseas in Japan (which I don't remember) and in Morocco (which I do remember). After my dad retired, I grew up in Oklahoma. I graduated from Midwest City High School, and then I attended Central State University, which is now the University of Central Oklahoma (earning BA in history and education and an MA in English). Then I was at Oklahoma State University (Go Cowboys!!) for 3 years working on a PhD. However, I finally got tired of school, so in 1978, I joined the Air Force, graduating from Officer Training School. I spent over 12 years in the Air Force as a missile maintenance officer at F.E. Warren AFB, an ROTC instructor at AFROTC Det 665, University of Cincinnati, and then as an education/training officer at the Defense Information School in Indianapolis and at Los Angeles AFB. I met my husband in the Air Force; we married in 1980 and have a son and a daughter. They're grown up, but they kept us busy with school and scouts. Jennie was in Girl Scouts and achieved the Silver Award. She earned a degree in Music Business. Mike is an Eagle Scout and has received his Bachelor degree in history and English, graduating Magna Cum Laude. I now teach English at a community college in San Antonio, TX. We also have 3 cats that we love a lot: Lady, Tramp, and Kitty-Kitty. We miss our one boy cat, Dusty, who died, but we know he's waiting at the rainbow bridge for us. Our sweet Shadow has now passed on to join her brother at the rainbow bridge. Goodbye, sweet girl. Sept. 9, 2014, we lost another sweet girl, Kitty-Kitty. We'll miss all of you.

I really enjoy searching for lost relatives and friends. I have been amazed to find two uncles,an aunt, and my maternal grandfather here, among others. There is one aunt I would love to find, but I do not know how to begin. My mother's sister, Emma Jean (or Emmajean) Swift disappeared from Oklahoma City around 1938-1940. We know through death records that she died in 1980 in the Fort Worth area. We always wanted to know the answer to "why" and to find her grave. If there are any detectives out there, maybe they can find her. She's probably buried in the Tarrant county area. UPDATE: Emma Jean has been found, and I have posted a memorial on FAG for her.

Family names I look for include: on my mother's side I am related to Swift, DeVall, Ogden, Dann, Williams families. On my father's side, I am related to Entwistle and Driscoll families (in Massachusetts mostly) Entwistles have been impossible to find although I know many of them must be interred in the Boston area and neighboring counties. My husband's families include Sauser and Gammell.
