Have only been at this a few years, with more and more interest in the past few months after discovering my husband and I are related from the 1800's. |
A native North Carolinian, I come from Stokes/Gibsons immediately, but have gone back to the 1600's so far and am also working on my husband's tree. He is from Jarrell/Myrick stock, and we have enjoyed checking out headstones from all the ancestors.
We're probably related in some way to all of you, and are proud of it! :D

THanks for linking Mrs.Stokes to her sister Margaret Jones McNair, my great grandmother.
The book by Mrs. Stokes' daughter, Reba, is responsible for getting me interested in genealogy. I have been trying to link the people in our family, so this helps.

Thank you SO MUCH for the photos. The Lipe overview and close ups are perfect!

I am recommending that if anyone wants a photo from Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, part of the Dignity Memorial Provider Network, they call the cemetery and get the section name and the row # and post that information with the request for a photo. With the section name and row # and stopping by the office for directions or if one has a map of the cemetery sections, finding a grave should be simple. The problem we had last year was getting information about the grave with just a name and DOB and DOD. There was little interest in helping if we had more than one or two names. Now, with 80-plus in a holding pattern, there's no way these people will help. For those who are posting for Sharon photos, they should re-post their request(s) with info so we can find the graves without troubling office staff at Sharon.

Thank you so much for the lovely memorial on Mom's site. She has many Gibson ancesters with the closest being her paternal grandmother, Sarah "Sally" Gibson McLeod, who lived in Richmond County NC. You have quickly become a dear friend ;)

Thank you so much for the photos of Warren & Edith Glover's markers at Old St. Davids Church. It was very generous of you to do this for me. The photos are very clear! I've never seen headstones shaped quite like these before. Is it a common design in the area perhaps? I think they're very nice.

Glad to help, and nice that the graves had lovely flowers on them when I took the picture. Since E. Clifton Stokes was your grandfather, I am transferring his memorial to you.

Thank you so much for the photo. It is truly appreciated.
Add the photo to Jimmie Davis' memorial, I've done some research and have found records for a Jennie T. Davis, but no death certificate. I sent you my email address in a memorial correction, did you not get it?
