|Royce Arnold Scott||RE: Victor Vance Brothers|
No - The Brothers family lived in the Patricia community in southwest Dawson County. My paternal family moved there in 1924 and my maternal family moved there in 1927
My mother died when I was ten days old and I lived with my maternal grandparents at Patricia.
I am trying to put together the history of families who moved there grubbed out the mesquites and starting farming - they were a tough bunch to survive
The Brothers family moved to Patricia from the northern portion of Haskell County, Texas.
His wife had died and he married a widow, Mrs Williams, who had 11 children - one born after her husband died - only one child remains of the Williams family
My grandmother's father was born in Scott County Arkansas - his mother and family moved to Texas. My grandmother was born in Wolfe City and her mother died in less than a year. So, I also have roots in Arkansas - I guess that I need to stop telling Akie jokes.
Victor Vance Brothers only connection to Arkansas was to marry a woman from there.

VICTOR VANCE BROTHERS - CORRECTED INFORMATION
His parents were Calvin C Brothers and Mary Jane Qualls – He was born in Haskell County, Texas, near or in O’Brien on November 14, 1913 -
In the 1930s, the Brothers Family lived at Patricia – Dawson & Martin Counties Texas
On March 12, 1935 in Dawson County, Texas, he married Rosa Lee Chapman who was daughter of R. W. and Julie Chapman.
She was born September 15, 1916 in Texas and died July 11, 1950 in Lamesa Texas. She is buried in Lamesa Memorial Cemetery. Her death certificate shows informant as V. V. Brothers
His second wife was Mabelle Waithall Phillips who was previously married to Jim Phllips. The information about Walden Arkansas is her history not the history of Calvin Brothers.
Thank you for your information on the Carrigan brothers of Old Washington, Arkansas. I have entered the biographical information you sent on their memorial pages. If you have any more information to share or any other corrections, please let me know.

I am not sure where I got the info; if you have found a memorial for him I will delete mine until I find my information that fully states the cemetery.

Thanks! If you're a relative, I'd be happy to transfer him to you. I'm not related to the family, at least that I'm aware of.

Those military records are always frustrating for me. They rarely have enough information to be sure you have the right person. Only the draft registration seems to be fairly foolproof.

I assume you checked Ancestry.com? And Family Search has excellent records, too. Ancestry also owns Fold 3 that has the military records. It's a great resource. Good luck.

I do have a U S Confederate Soldiers Compiled Service Record (1861-1865). If this is him, and it lists John H Phillips, birth about 1832, Elistment date 1862. Are you a descendant? I am descended from his brother Ezekiel Thomas. I know he fought in the Civil War, and then left Georgia for Texas to homestead. It's likely John H and others came with him.
