Since moving across the country recently I have been looking for something to do with my time. I find that walking in cemeteries to be relaxing and soothing to my soul. It's almost like they are calling to me to help locate their family who is looking for them. This has also helped me get in my 10,000 steps in a day LOL.

About 25 years ago I found it to be helpful in my genealogy to take pictures of the gravestones, headstones and burial markers. It made it so much easier to transcribe when I got home. I know how this has helped me and know how important it is to others who might not be able to get to a cemetery themselves.

In the almost 35 years of genealogy I have found it to be so helpful for those who have already photographed members of my family that I couldn't get to either because of distance or time. I stumbled onto Findagrave.com about 10 years ago in searching out a family name and it is one of several sites I check for family names.

TRANSFERS per Find A Grave guidelines:

Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request.

Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Explain your relationship in the transfer request! Any non-direct relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) are not required to be transferred. Keep in mind that the original contributor may also be related to the memorial and may not make the transfer.

I would be happy to go photograph the grave marker for you but do you have the info for the Section number and Plot number. without this info it would be almost impossible to find due to the size of the cemetery. If you don't have it you can call the cemetery office at 281-332-3111 and they will look it up for you. If you get the info please email me at KENNEDYL@RICE.EDU.

RE: Fahrenkrug memorial
You are welcome. It was easier to find than I expected. It is off Locust Way just east of the building which is referred to as the tool shed.

Charles F. Schreiber
Hi Robin,

Sorry to report that there is no grave marker for Charles F. Schreiber in Block 35, Lot 162. I’ve added a photo of the general area of Lot 162 to his memorial.

In addition, I’ve put together some information about the layout of Lot 162, including the two markers that are located there (which includes the one for Charles’ son, Alfred). This information is in a Word document which I’d be happy to e-mail to you if you like. Please send me your e-mail address if you’re interested. My e-mail address is crystals48@aol.com.

Thanks,
Crystal
