I've only been doing my family history for six or seven years now. But I love collecting all this information -- eventually I get to see a picture that stretches back a long way, and across this country. My dad's people started out in Maryland, and my mom's in Pennsylvania. Both families have made it all the way to California where there are both the living and the …well, those who've crossed over.

I'm looking for the Pottenger families in Montgomery, Preble, Butler and Hamilton Counties in Ohio. They came from Maryland, through Pennsylvania and Kentucky (Nelson County), which started out as "Pottenger's Landing".

The Amon family landed in Pennsylvania. The name has many forms: Amon, Aman, Amen, Auman, Ammon, and many more. They live throughout Pennsylvania and in California. My closest Amon relatives, my mothers people, are from Adams and Highland counties in Ohio.

My paternal grandmother's people are the Trochelman family, immigrated from Germany in 1869. They are also spread all across the country.

My maternal grandmother's family is the Copas group. They are from Adams county, but seem to have started out in Virginia, then spread to Tennessee and Ohio.

My grand aunt married a Wiltshire who was from Jefferson County, Kentucky. I want to know much more about them.

Several years ago I acquired Ancestry.com's 2012 version of Family Tree Maker and I'm now up to v. 2014. Now, every discovery I make is automatically displayed to my online tree at Ancestry.com. Look for Pottenger Extended Family Tree to see my expanded family history.

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participates in this effort. So much of what I have discovered about my family tree starts right here with memorials and obituaries posted on FindAGrave. I would be lost without your efforts. Thanks a million.
