Bio Photo What started out 25 years ago to be a Fletcher Family tree in and around China, Maine gradually turned to be a family tree of many folks of Kennebec County. Now some would say I'm a baby historian of the area. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any queries of lost souls in the area.

Dr. Harold Fletcher
Hi! I was doing research on a home built for him and wife Virginia (architect William Wurster) and was wondering what happened to Virginia after his death. Didn't know if you knew, or wanted to know but thought I'd send info. She remarried in 1964 to Frederick E. Palmer, who passed in 1970. Virginia passed in 1983, but have not found a burial for her, or an obituary. Thanks for his bio as it gives me a little more information for my research into his beautiful home!

Hi Mel,

I am always happy to make transfers, all I ask is to know how you are related. (as per Find a Grave guidelines)

You're very welcome. I do the grave requests for Waikumete, so do let me know if there is anyone else you would like me to look up.
Kind regards

please move the photo of Howard
Hello Mel, I have moved the Howard photo as you requested. I was uncertain if you wanted it removed from the previous memorial of Lois Cornelia Rhodes Fletcher. Please advise. Barb - Touche

RE: Samuel Brainerd
The more I look at older records, the more I'm nearly certain it is same person.

Samuel Brainerd, born in Maine, lived in Wisconsin in 1860 per census records. There are no military records with Brainerd, but records that match the description exist for Brainard. It's very likely (and common) that they misspelled his name when he enlisted and that's what "stuck" throughout his service. Find a Grave recommends that folks use the last name as it is on the stone and make a note of the different / alternate spelling to avoid duplicate entries. There are actually three entries for him int the cemetery, I've sent a request for them to be merged.

I want to say thank you! I have been working on a "Loudon project" to reconcile lists (from 1861-1865) and current plots. It's one of the 14 original National cemeteries and record keeping in the 1800s wasn't the best.

RE: Samuel Brainerd
Perhaps you can provide a plot location? The VA has no record of him buried in this National cemetery.

This is the only similar name - and he enlisted in Wisconsin (I can send you additional details / photo if you like):
DATE OF DEATH: 10/27/1861

RE: Isabella McDicken's photo
You're very welcome. Providing the plot details made it a cinch, so thank you for that. Ocean View is both a very busy and large cemetery; getting information from the office takes time and they don't provide burial details on the spot, like many other cemeteries (not their fault - they are still very helpful!). It was a pleasure to be of service. Cheers, Edie

Eri Fletcher #89720829
Eri Fletcher is my 2nd great grandfather. I have his 3 children that you have listed and I also have a James R Fletcher 1856-1934 (my 1st ggfather) and an Idella A. Fletcher 1864- These two are both on the 1870 Dexter, Me census. James is also on the 1860 census. I am wondering why you did not have these two on your memorial? Maybe the Eri you have is not the one I have. Any verification would be greatly appreciated. Sylvia
