Born 8 Oct 1930 in Yorkville, Gibson County, TN. I was raised in Gibson and Dyer counties of West Tennessee. I the joined the USAF in April of 1948 and retired at Shaw AFB, SC on 1 Jan 1973. I served 10 years of my service overseas in the United Kingdom and Japan. I worked at the Westinghouse Necular Fuel Plant in Columbia, SC and retired from there in 1992. I am a Lifetime member of the DAV. I started researching all branches of my family 20 years ago and now have a permanent Web Site on RootsWeb.com. Only recently have I been making memorials on Find A Grave. I only do memorials on blood lines to the various branches of my family.|

Hello i saw you recently created a Memorial for Allen Gibson he is my Great Great Great Grandfather his daughter Allie Dee Gibson-Smith was my Great Grandpa Leo Glen Smith's mother.
I have quite a bit of information about him but have been interested in finding his military information he fought on the Confederate side of the Civil War, and went into the Hornets Nest alongside Bedford Forrest at the Battle of Shiloh.
I have been able to find very little about his parents as i was told they died when he was very young and he was sent to live with a older spinster sister, and put to work picking cotton he ran away at 15 and joined the confederacy at 16.

I have seen your name all over genealogy postings and just wanted to stop by and say hello. My brother Robert Marion Edmondson and I have been researching the family history for over 10 years together and he did a DNA back about 5 years ago. My question, do you know of a Dyer or Taylor or Parker family closely related to the Edmundson family? Our fam. is from Vermont, then Pickering Twp Ontario Canada, then Iowa, Oregon, where they settled. Seems as tho we tested out as Ulster Scot, a blend of Irish and Scot. I always heard the family speak of being Welch and an uncle proudly wore the clan plaids, but can't remember who they were. Cheers, Beth Edmondson-Cosselmon Westland, Michigan.

I see you are maintaining his memorial now, would you happen to be related?
Just wondered, I am a Freeman descendent too!
|D'Ann Smith||Edmundson/Short Family|
My name is D'Ann (Allen) Smith,
I am a descendant of Granville Lafayette Short and Martha Ann Pope. I have just begun my family search for the the Short branch of the family. I know that several Shorts married Edmundsons including 2 of Granville's daughters. I have also come across other Shorts in Missouri that married Edmundsons.
I was wondering first if we are cousins of a sort and second if you happened to know about the parents of Granville Short or Martha Pope.
I believe that Granville's father was "Sherrod" and mother was "Susan" from Census reports and that there was a sister "Sarah" but that is all I have found. If you have any clues I would really appreciate them.
Thank you Cousin???

You're welcome. I'm glad I could help out! :) They are distantly related to me as well, so I guess that means you may be distantly related too.
