I am interested in the families descending from Elder Jacob Cropsey, John Murray, Aspinwall P. Straight, Asahel Chillson, Isaac Gilbert, Silas Bowen, Benjamin Bridge, and Consider Hyland. I have lots of family info on these lines. I'm also interested in the family of John and Bridget McQuaid of Wisconsin and Alois Schaumberg of Mineral Point WI.

I have 163 unidentified photos of people from these families on a Pinterest board at http://www.pinterest.com/prairieflowers2/who-am-i/. If you have photos of these families, would you look at the board and see if you can identify any of them. One of my genealogical goals is to get names on all the old photos.

RE: Fenton family Big Horn Basin
I can't say for sure. I know there was a community close to Meeteetse Creek called Fenton, but I haven't looked into the Fenton bunch yet. My involvement with Fentons so far has been in relation to the Thayers and Wilsons who lived in or near Fenton. George Thayer married Florence Fenton, there is a Fenton buried in the Meeteetse Cemetery and one buried in the Wilson (Meeteetse Creek) Cemetery.

There was a woman named Amelia who married John Fenton in England. He died in 1870. In 1875, she brought the kiddies to America. One of the boys was John William (Jack) I think this was the family that started Fenton, Wyoming. They ran a post office and stage stop at their ranch and so that area became known as Fenton.

RE: Edward H McKenna # 162653868
I went ahead and linked Edward to John McKenna buried in Iowa.

I have a feeling the McKenna's will be a worked in progress for a while.

RE: Edward H McKenna # 162653868
Hello,

Is this the correct McKenna Family to connect to Edward?

John McKenna # 43051999
Catherine McKenna # 36089953

There is a Mary McKenna (# 36090031) buried with John and Catherine in the same cemetery in Jackson county, Iowa. Also located in that cemetery is James McKenna born 1873.

It would be great if the John McKenna listed above is Edward's father then I would be able to start adding more family for him.

There was another John McKenna/McKenney/McKinna living in Jo Daviess county, Illinois. He was born in Ireland and later moved to Wisconsin. That John married Eliza Conner in Jo Daviess county on April 22nd, 1849. He was about 5-7 years older than the John McKenna I think might be Edward's father.

Once again the similarity in names is causing me to be very cautious in adding parents for Edward McKenna.

I found this site very handy for trying to confirm identities linking Edward to his potential parents:

RE: Edward H McKenna # 162653868
Wow,

The McKenna's had a lot going on.

John and Mary are buried in Iowa from what I can tell.

I never found Ellen for sure. There was an Ellen Ward McKanna who passed away in 1914 and is buried in Galina, Illinois. Her year of birth was close but once again the spelling of the name gives me pause. The date of death is also way off from what I would suspect it should be unless John and Ellen had divorced for some reason.

The whole McKenna story would make a great ancestry novel.

Edward H McKenna # 162653868
Hello,

You sent a message asking about Ed McKenna's parentage.

I have his father as John McKenna from Ireland but his mother was Ellen Ward.

I haven't found anything I can definitely assign to Ellen Ward as Ed's mother other than some marriage lines for other children that may or may not be her.

I have refrained from adding her to Ed's parentage until I am more certain.

The children that are attributed to John McKenna and Ellen Ward McKenna were Mary, Edward, and Alice Mae.

When Alice married in 1880 she gave her birth place as Galena, Illinois. She was 20 years old when she married Truman Judson Potter in Buchanan, Iowa. Alice died in 1948 and is buried in Seneca, South Dakota.

There is an 1860 Galena, Illinois Census enumeration for John, Ellen, Mary, Edward, and Allice Kinney that is most likely John's first family all together because the the place, ages, and first names are right. The last name gives me pause though.

I know that the people who were taking the census information were sometimes barely literate themselves but Kinney seems off enough for me to be cautious.

If you find something that gives a tighter hold on Ellen Ward as Ed's mother I would be glad to use it to connect him to John McKenna.

RE: Crapsey/Krebser/.Schreiber family
I wouldn't mind John and Catharina (Schreiber) Krebser's children's names along with their birth and death dates and places, but not much more. It's getting pretty far off track from my core families.

Thank you, kindly,

I have transferred this memorial to you. You have much more information than I have. I created this memorial from a transcript of the cemetery which most certainly could have had an error. I know this memorial is in good hands. Thanks for looking into this. Sincerely, C. Gengler
