My wife and I are retired firefighters, I with over 32 years as an industrial firefighter and municipal volunteer, and Debbie with just over 16 as a municipal volunteer and Medic. Debbie is the "heady" master-mind and main discipline of the team when it comes to research, and has expanded our personal knowledge base considerably. I on the other hand, have found my forte to be in the scanning and digitizing of old photos and documents, uploading our work to the internet, uploading photos and managing memorials on F-A-G. |
I do monitor requests in my local area and I try to check the locations where I may be traveling to, and I try to fill whatever I can when I'm on the road. One location I will not go to without specific plot info provided from the requester is Forest Park East in Webster, TX. Too many volunteer photographers trying to do good deeds have been treated rudely and "sluffed off" by the park staff (myself included). Sorry.
If I request the transfer of management of a particular memorial, please rest assured that all credit for your work will be retained on the memorial. This also extends to those who may have contributed pictures or other documentation as well. I have no issues with transferring management of a memorial to any family member, in or outside of the F-A-G "4 generation" stipulation. The way I see it, a family member should be able to provide a much more meaningful memorial than just a couple of dates and a cemetery name from a stranger.

Hi Ken and Debbie:
You are welcome for the photo. I just decided that I would pick a request to fulfill next I was at SS Peter and Paul. The findagrave community has been so helpful - thought it was time to make my contribution! I double checked, and George's wife Mildred is buried in the grave. According to the person at the office, someone had recently placed a request in July to add her name to the stone, which has not yet been done by the monument company.

OMG!! They responded to my request for a photo of Patrick J Reilly's headstone! I really didn't think I would ever hear from them, but miracles DO happen!

Thanks for letting me know about this! There are always the few who ruin it for everyone else. I had a feeling money was involved somewhere, just the wrong party. Such a shame. Pam

Thanks for the heads-up regarding photo requests at this cemetery. Some of them are getting so "anal" about it, especially when they won't even let you photograph your own ancestors! They must want people to pay them to do the requests themselves, it always comes down to the almighty dollar. Such a shame people have gotten so selfish and greedy. Pam

Hi Ken and Debbie,
Just wanted to give you a big "thank you" for trying to get a photo of Horace and Columba Volz's
headstones for me. I will call the cemetery and see if they will take the photos for me.Appreciate
your willingness to give of your time to go to the
cemetery and try to take the photos. God bless you
both for all that you do for those of us unable to
travel to the cemeteries where our ancestors are buried.Margaret

Hello Ken and Debbie,
I was able to get a good day yesterday to go to Togus to get some photos. There were a couple dozen turkeys that were roaming around Section O and Section Q. I got them in the background of one of the shots.
Lots of wildlife near this part of the cemetery. Several times I have seen deer there and once we saw a bobcat there.
Sincerely, Tim & Grace Cooper
