Bio

Member of Company A, 9th PA Reserves, a Civil War re-enactment group from Pittsburgh, with our home base at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library in Carnegie, PA.

This library is home to the Capt. Thomas Espy G.A.R. Post No. 153. The G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) was founded in 1866 for Northern Civil War veterans and was a major influence in America during the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.

The Espy Post is one of the most, if not the most intact G.A.R. posts out of the nearly 8,000 G.A.R. posts that once existed between 1866 and 1949 when the organization held it's last meeting.
