Bio and Links
Bio Photo After searching for ancestors for quite some time, I finally found the resting place of my Irish immigrant family in Union Cemetery located in Brooklyn, NY. The demise of Union Cemetery was sad to stumble upon, the search was long and frustrating and so my interest in Findagrave change from searching for my own ancestors to helping others find their elusive family by posting records that I come across.
I am more than happy to transfer memorials to family members upon request as you can keep far better care of the memorial than I can. I only ask that as you claim a memorial that maybe you will be kind enough to "find a grave" to list and help in the search that others might have.

Union Cemetery
I see that you were a contributor for graves located in the old and defunct Union Cemetery in Kings County, New York.....graves were dug up and moved to Cedar Grove Cemetery. Did you find a list of interments in Union? I got the death cert for my gr gr grandfather and he was interred in Union Cemetery but he is not on Find A Grave. Just wondering where you and others got the information to put the graves in Union Cemetery. Thanks

Julius Adolphe Gates
Thanks for that information. I will not take him at this time to manage as I want first to send for his death record to be sure he is ours. I truly believe he is but have a question or two as he had a brother who died just before him who is not in this cemetery and I find it strange they were not buried in the same place. The family did move to NJ a few years after Julius was buried though or would have been moved. I have no idea what he died of either so perhaps the records will show me more. I appreciate so much what you sent to me. Thank you very much. Florence

Grove Cemetery in Queens
Although it is said that the Grove Cemetery in Queens that Julius A. Gates was moved to when the Union Cemetery sold I cannot find him listed in the names for that cemetery. Any clues? Perhaps he was moved elsewhere I suppose. Florence

I believe this is my "grand uncle", brother to my grandmother but he died before she was born. I was thrilled to find this grave site as I have his birth from baptismal records but never had his death information. Was there anything further on his death or burial records or how did you find him and the others, from a list of the old Union Cem. or what? Would love any further information on him. Would gladly send my email to you if you have more info.

Slocum children...
Did the info you used to create the memorial pages come from a cemetery book in a library? I am just curious because of the details concerning the relocation of the entire cemetery those many years ago. Also curious about all those noted as if they are buried in that exact location. If you have time, I would appreciate knowing more about those details. Thank you...

RE: Johnson
Hi Sheryl - My husband who is now deceased, his grandparents where Carl Magnus Johnson & Anna Lina (Carlson) Johnson who lived in Charter Grove Illinois in Dekalb County. This Carl Magnus Johnson was born in Sweden 08/18/1858, but can't find a record of his death. Anna died in 1923 and is buried in Maple Cemetery in Kirkland.

Thanks Carol
