Hi John. I don't have an proven answer to your question. My experience is that if the names are close or the same in pronunciation that they are probably the same name. My surname is Osborne and the e appears and disappears even within the same generation. I bet the s or the z was interchangeable and just depends on the individuals preference.

I noticed the difference in father and son. I did not mean to sound disrespectful. Just was pointing out the information on the headstone verses information on the memorial. I understand that headstone information can be inaccurate, along with census records.

Peter Ragle Sr memorial #71555865 shows dod as 1886 which is also on the headstone.
