Bio

I'm a former Marine and have been told a couple of times over the last 30 years that I'd be in a wheel chair within a year or two, due to various injuries I've encountered while enjoying the adventure of life. So far the Doctors have been wrong - I need a cane and am pretty slow, but I get there.

I've been taking volunteer pictures for Find A Grave since June or July 2011 and decided that while searching for requested markers, I'm going to take pictures of the older Military markers and the markers which are barely readable, requested or not. During bad weather or days my legs don't work, I'll go to those photos and do my best to interpret them and add text to the pictures to identify who they are and which cemetery they're in. And then add them to Find A Grave if there's a memorial out there with no photo.

Before joining the Marine Corps in 1970, I was a grave digger at Union Cemetery (640 acres) in Columbus Ohio. There was a crew of thirty full time, including six guys my age (17), all of us in need of discipline. We had more fun in a cemetery than you're supposed to have, doing things you're not supposed to do in cemeteries.

Now I enjoy peacefully looking for requested markers.
