For those who check their "edits" often, thank you!
Memorials: my memorials are works in progress and updated as I find additional research. Numbers is not my thing - just enjoying what I am doing!! The willingness of being a volunteer is not about recognition or numbers, but to share my time and efforts with others. "Everyone deserves to be remembered." The resting place of all persons should be marked with a tombstone to honor their memory.
Photos:The only time I add an "overview" photo to someone's memorial is to show location which is a great help in finding a marker in a large area and/or to add data on the photo caption. This is certainly not taking away from the time and effort of any person submitting memorials and photographs of stones, the overview photo is mainly for location. Please note that photos are not always good due to the time of day of photo and some are old markers in poor condition which need cleaning, etc., but they are worth a view to someone searching for an ancestor. FAG staff says any contributor can add a photo to any memorial. Most of my photos have been added to memorials that other FAG contributors posted and if there was no tombstone photo added in a year or more, then I add a photo. Any photo is better than no photo at all; it proves the grave exists or at least there is a tombstone. Photo requests: it costs nothing to be polite...thank all volunteers who find grave markers for you! 💜
Transfers: I will transfer if you wish to maintain a memorial and plan to participate on this website. Just ask! Too many new contributors have requested family member memorials and then lose interest and never check if they have edits, links or messages. Perhaps, you might consider a virtual cemetery with all of your 'family together' rather than requesting all your family members be transferred to you. Hundreds of other people share the same ancestors as you. I will retain my own "direct line" of family members at this time.
