I live near Vienna in Maries County, Missouri, with my husband of fifty-one years, Marvin. We own a part of the original land the Elrods settled on in 1846, in the "Bend".

I have been interested in family history for a long time. I think the two people who instilled that love for history in me was my father, Allen B. Elrod, and also my history teacher, Mr. Bryce Jett, at Belle High School in Belle, Missouri.

I completed by family's histories in 2009-the Elrods, the Givens,
the Backues and the Shanks but I am always searching for infor- mation I may have missed. I have many, many names and dates
I would be happy to share. Also I would love to receive any old picures. I have posted pictures of Thomas Martin Backues, Sr. who is buried at Bloom Garden Cemetery and Thomas Martin
Backues, Jr. who is buried at Bethel Cemetery. I have several more of the four families and plan to post them when I can find
the time.
