I'm from Adel GA, retired military and still work for the DOD at Ft. Stewart GA. I work on family trees just for fun. My wife is from Oklahoma, a retired Pediatric RN. We live in Glennville Ga. and the surrounding counties are Long, Liberty, Chatham, Bryan, Wayne, Appling, Macintosh, Evans, Tattnall and others.
Most of my family came from the Coffee/Irwin county areas from my fathers side and branched out from there. The family from my mothers side came from South Carolina. The names range from Vickers, Youngblood, Sizemore, Kirkland, Sears, Tucker Davis, Paulk, Hancock, Ivey, Joiner, Rogers, Joiner, Taylor, Selph, Purvis, Young and Sapp from my fathers side of the family and Cain, Raines, Wetherington, Williams, Moore, Brogdon Hood, Timmerman, Regan and Clegg from my mothers side of the family.
Things that I like. Entering memorials for people that have passed away as a sign of respect to them and to the families and to help others put together their family history which this site help with doing just that.
Things that I do not like! There is a term I heard the other day by one of the FAG administrators," Cemetery Mowers" they go through a cemetery documenting every headstone for the number count no matter if there is a person deceased or not. This is false information. The individual that they document may have gotten remarried and decided to be placed in a different location. There are numerous reasons you should not do this. To some this is just about how many you can add, not about respect, dignity, courtesy or correctness that the individual or their family deserves. Imagine if it were your family, son, daughter, mother or father. DO NOT BE A CEMETERY MOWER!! There are enough of them out there already putting out the wrong information because they are to lazy to do it correctly.
If for any reason you see something that I have entered is wrong, please let me know so that I can correct it.
If there is anything on any of the memorials that you would like to use, feel free to use it without asking.
Be respectful, of the person that has passed away and the family members they have left behind. Try to always get their information correct and imagine how you or your family members would feel.
