Michael "David" Riden (Alias M. David Riden) is the Great-Great-Grand Son of James (Ridenhorse) Riden and Sukwi Horse (of the Cherokee Horse Clan). They hideout at the base of Winnie (highest peak in McMinn Co., TN valley) from Sec. of War Calhoun, during the rounding up the Cherokee Indians as part of the Trail of Tears removal. Winnie is on the Old Riden Farm Homeplace in Riceville, TN where David lives and is host to the Riden, Elrod, Smith and Barker annual reunion on Labor Day. Also, David is the Great-Great-Great-Grand Son of John H. (Johnny) Jones and Francis Goad (of the Cherokee Nation). Their daughter, Elmira Jones Elrod was my mother's (Grace Elrod Riden) Great-Grand Mother. My Grand Father was Wesley Ford Elrod (named after John Wesley, founder of the Methodism and Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motor Company and Ford Foundation Donation Land Grant). My father was Rev. William (Mr. Bill) Walter Riden, retired as a UMC pastor.
