RE: Thank you
Hello Daniel,

Beside taking pictures of wargraves, I have now started with my wife a small business in which we are placing dayfresh flowerboucquets on wargraves, memorials, cemeteries from Ypres to the Somme. I have started this business due to the many requests from people around the world.

This service can be found on our website:

In the customer section you will find an example of a commemoration I did last week for a Scottish client in Dunkirk.

If this service would interest you please drop me an email:

It would be great if you could share this with people you know.

best regards,
Claude Verstraete

RE: Rev Fr George Daniel O'Brine

No, I am no relation to the O'Brine family, and unfortunately I don't have any photographs from the cemetery. I got my information from a book on St. Patrick's, I believe it was published on the church's 100th anniversary? The book belongs to my mother-in-law; she has several relatives buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Churdan.

A parishoner by the name of Joan Nugent may be able to help you with your research, if she is still living. Her contact information appears on the following website:

Good luck to you,

RE: Sophronie LaFontaine
Hi Daniel: No, I haven't found any further info. Don't know where to begin. You mentioned a couple of things, eg. brothers and a sister, can you be more specific? Where did you find info on Sophronie? Is there more there that I can find? Is my Sophronie related to you? if so, how? Could my Sophronie and your Sophronie be the same person who perhaps married twice? Their history is so similar.
I wish you all the best in finding your French ancestors.
Thanks for your reply. Hoping to hear from you again.

RE: James O'Brien grave.
You are most welcome. I looked for Isabella on the same marker and in the immediate area but did not see her.

Sophronie LaFontaine
Hi Daniel: I believe that my ancestor Sophronie Fontaine/Lafontaine is related to your Sophronie. My Sophronie was also found in Ontario, Canada but had originally come from Hogansburg, NY. She married Emilien/Million Gendreau/Gendron/Jeandro wedding place unknown. I think her parents were Gabriel Lafontain/Fontaine/Lafontaine and Magdeline Bousquet married in Varennes, Quebec but were also said to have come from New York. All my Canadian cousins can't find any more info on our Sophronie. Sophronie and Emilien had twin daughter and the one named Philomena Mary Gendron/Gendreauy was my great-great grandmother born in Hogansburg, NY and married Francis/Francois Leroux. I think they were married in either Hogansburg or Alexandria or Glengarry?, Ontario -- can you help us??? We are pretty frustrated. Thanks for any help or comments you can give us.
