One of my mentor family members passed these words to me:

"I have enjoyed genealogy for two reasons. First it is like a jig-saw puzzle without any outer perimeters; it is a definite challenge. There are always more pieces to find, and sometimes a piece that has been "in place" for years is found to be wrong, and must be replaced with the correct one. Second, it seems to me to give a perspective to history that cannot be found in the textbooks. It dosen't tell of wars and battles and kings and great national movements, but rather of the lives and conditions of the common people - their characteristics, eccentricities, motivations etc." D.L.P., 10 Dec 1974

With that inspiration, family history has become an important activity for me, and I am thankful that Findagrave is available as a resource. The Findagrave community, through its power of collective research, has helped me to accomplish what otherwise might have been practically impossible.
