Genealogy has always been a love of mine that time did not permit me to enjoy. I am now retired from education and able to spend time learning more about the history of my family as well as the state of North Carolina. As a beginner, I have much to learn, but am quickly learning the ins and outs of searches. One of the hardest things I am finding is when I visit a family cemetery and find the graves forgotten. A recent such incident was that of a revolutionary hero that helped establish the area where his cemetery was located. So very sad.
