My fascination with cemeteries began when I was on active duty in the United States Army. I'm a trumpet player and served as an Army Bandsman for twenty years. During that time I performed Taps at military funerals on more occasions than I can remember. |
While waiting for the funeral procession to arrive I would spend as much time as possible walking through the cemetery reading tombstones. It proved to be a very interesting way to pass the time. Now that I'm a member of the Find A Grave community I can put that interest to good use.
I've either created or manage all memorials for my immediate family, so my focus at this point is creating memorials for others and fulfilling as many local photo requests as possible.

Please find out as much info as you can about the location of the stone. I was there today 12/23/2016 and it was tough to find stones. There wasn't an office or anyone on the property and for some reason all of the street/lot signs were painted over in black. I will try again another time.

I am still on it and going back to cemetery this week to check and see if a marker has been placed. If there is not one, I will ask about the time frame and see if one was ordered.
In the meanwhile, I have sent you an edit, as he is buried in Block 5, Lot 85, Gr 5. I am listing all of the Veterans buried in this cemetery, so adding the burial locations. Thank you for your memorial of Andrew Martinis and I will certainly let you know asap when a marker is placed, or if I find further information about a marker this week.

Hello Bill, My husband and myself were at Sylvan Abbey this morning and I photographed a marker for Russell Ford. I feel terrible as I didn't check the dates when I took the photos - and I claimed them for your Russell Ford and then fulfilled it. Unfortunately, the Russell I photographed was NOT the Russell Ford that you had requested. I am SO sorry! PLEASE put your photo request back up on FindaGrave, and we will continue to search for him each time we are there. Again, I am very sorry.

Maybe you can help me.
I have a 4th great grandfather that my records say was buried in Jewel Church Lawn in Oct 1789.
He is Rev Jepetha Vining. If he is buried there, I would have information.
I appreciate you taking care of my old kin....
