Throughout my childhood of moving every couple of years, my mother told fascinating stories about her father's family and ancestors in Augusta and Rockingham Counties in the Shenandoah Valley and her mother's family in Beckly and Huntington, WV. It must have given me an anchor in my adult life as I continued to move all over the US, for I began researching her and my father's genealogy at the age of 20 and continued sporadically for the next 45 years as I raised 12 children, went back to school, divorced, went to work full time, remarried and have now semi-retired. Currently, genealogy absorbs all my spare time as I put the finishing touches on what I've gathered (a never-ending process) and send it in print to my 90 yr old mother and her 3 (now 2) siblings.

My biggest concern has slowly developed into telling the stories of those extended ancestors who did not have children to remember them. I have found the best place to store my research online is with FamilySearch.com. It will still be there long after I'm gone.
