Bio

Hello ~ I've been a contributor since 2011 on the Find-A-Grave pages. I got serious about genealogy research in 2006 through a home education project with my then-high schooler. I am a stickler for detail, so as much as possible, only post reliably sourced/documented information and photographs, and give credit wherever possible.

Because I'd found many wonderful records here, I decided to join the Find-A-Grave community and hopefully give back to others as time permits.

My ancestor roots are in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, several New England states (VT, NY, MA, NH, etc.); Quebec/Ontario, Canada; and Western Europe (mainly England, Ireland, Scotland), through the Hart/Skinner, Stratton/Robinson, Keene/Pierce, Loomis/Cooley, Shaffer lines on my father's side.

Maternal research interests are broader with Jean/LaChance, Warner/LeFurge, Foote/Pember, Palmer/Strayer, Freer/Low lines stemming from Michigan to Ontario & Quebec Provinces of Canada; France, England, Ireland, Germany, Scotland, Norway.

It's been an amazing journey to uncover such gems as a millenium+ years of European royalty, and fun stuff like where the Vikings hit ancestors in the Orkney Islands of Scotland in the 11th century. And to trace our heritage not only from Michigan through Canada to the "Old Country" in Europe, but also in the U.S. to the founding of this country on the East Coast.

Both maternal and paternal lines are traceable back hundreds of years to the Mayflower and Pilgrims, Puritans, Huguenots, and others who through rich faith and difficult circumstances helped form and shape this incredibly beautiful and blessed place we call home here in America...and all of us as their descendants. It's an honor to remember them here on Find A Grave.

Ancestry DNA science just kicked it up a notch with greatly improved DNA samplings in summer 2018 and late 2019. Narrowing down the European bloodlines has been super-interesting, currently showing my genealogy research very much in line with my personal DNA results, and that of my immediate family (woohoo):

England, Wales & Northwestern Europe: 62%
Ireland & Scotland: 17%
France: 11%
Germanic Europe: 7%
Norway: 3%

Anyway...I hope you enjoy the memorials I have set-up for my direct ancestors; I have taken care to provide accurate biographies and photographs where available (and to update them as new information presents itself in my research). It's a slow process with everything else going on, but it will get done as my schedule allows. :)
