I am a Civil Engineer with a passion for needlearts and genealogy.

In honor of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, I decided to make a "Soldiers' Quilt" with the names of the Civil War soldiers in my family inked onto the blocks of the quilt. The quilt had spaces for 36 names, and at the time I only knew of a few; my great grandfathers and my great grand uncles. In order to finish the quilt, I needed to find a find a few more soldiers in my tree to ink into the remaining blocks. Little did I know what fascinating stories I would discover through this research.

Two years later, I have over 250 Confederate and Union soldiers in my tree. For each soldier I am including full name, birth and death, along with battles served, unit and rank. This has been quite a learning experience for me, and one of the most rewarding projects I've ever been involved with.

A fourth-generation quilter, I began sewing at the age of six, and made my first quilt blocks when I was 14. An avid seamstress and crafter, I enjoy all types of needlework.

I have a shop on etsy where I custom design and cross stitch family trees. I have stitched personalized trees for folks all over the United States. I currently have about 100 different family tree, family sampler, family record, wedding, anniversary, birth announcement and baptism designs. These take approximately 200 hours of stitching, depending on the detail of the designs. I lovingly stitch these in my home in Alabama.
