I have traced their ancestry back to around 1800 but have good reason to believe they came from Baltimore Co, MD to Wilkes Co in the mid to late 1700's. Their surname was present in MD as early as 1699. My paternal grandparents and their kin were born in Wyoming and McDowell Co, WV; I have traced my Smith line back to the Rev. War.
