"ONLY THE FORGOTTEN ARE DEAD"
------------REST IN PEACE-------------
************************************
To all that pass me by,
as you are now,
so once was I,
as I am now,
so you must be,
so now prepare to follow me.

(Anonymous Poem)

❤ Son of Ruth Norris Rothwell and Arthur Paul Pain, I was born on August 30, 1953, in Bennettsville, Marlboro County, South Carolina. I am now retired and living in Augusta, Columbia County, Georgia.

My primary goal as a Find-A-Grave contributor is to find, link together, and write biographies for all of my family ancestors. Although this is an arduous and challenging task, I find it very rewarding to finally see the accumulation of family names coming together as a type of virtual family mosaic. This single monumental endeavor unites together many lost generations of my family names: McDermond, Merritt, Lee, Pain, Paine, Messier, Mandeville, Carroll, Haithcock, Norris, and Nealy. This undertaking is not intended as a genealogical project, but a devoted journey of true love & family unity.

❤ The Pain family originated from Normandy, Thury-Harcourt, France and migrated to the United States through Montreal, Canada. The children of Damase Pain and Marie Flavie Messier Pain were 1st generation Americans and their children and grandchildren were 2nd & 3rd generation Americans. The Pain family were French Canadian immigrants that left Montreal, Canada and came to Fall River, Bristol County, Massachusetts in the late 1800's in hope of finding a prosperous new life in America. Below is a two-part video that talks about the French Canadian immigrants that left Montreal, Québec, Canada to come to the United States and the challenges they had to face after arriving in the United States.

Stephen Russell Pain is a 3rd Generation American, a descendant of French Canadian Immigrants.

❤ TRANSFER REQUESTS ❤ NOTE:
************************************
Transfers are made in accordance with Find A Grave policy as stated below. Please do not request a transfer unless the request follows those guidelines. Transfers are only required if you are a direct relative within four generations per the Second section below. Below is Find A Grave's transfer guidelines: How do I get a relative's memorial transferred to me?

❤ First, Determine if you really need the memorial transferred to you. You can add photos and suggest corrections without having to request management. Simply having someone in your family tree does not equal a valid reason for a transfer request. With hundreds of thousands of contributors, we have many overlapping family trees, and it would be impossible for all contributors to manage their entire tree.

❤ Second, Transfer requests should be for relatives with these close relationships: child, spouse/partner, sibling, parent, grandchild, great-grandchild, grandparent, great-grandparent, niece/nephew, great-niece/nephew, aunt/uncle, great-aunt/uncle, or first cousin. This would include adoptive, step and in-law versions of these relationships. Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations.

❤ Third, If you have extensive additions and/or changes to make to a memorial, please contact the Find A Grave member who created the memorial via the EDITS link. If there are multiple changes, then compile all and submit at one time, not one-by-one. This will send an email request to the contributor, even if there is not an E-mail address listed on their contributor page.

❤ Fourth, Explain your relationship in the first message. Any indirect relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, 4th cousin of sister's husband's aunt-3 times removed, etc.) are not required to be transferred." SOURCE: FIND A GRAVE

************************************
❤❤ The best way to contact a memorial manager it though the memorial itself. It ensures the right volunteer is contacted and they know what memorial you are referring to. If you are commenting through the messaging feature rather than memorial itself, please include the ID number of the memorial at issue.

❤ When requesting a transfer please give a reason for your interest beyond "a relative." Also please send a request from each individual entry.

❤ To request a transfer on the memorial in question, click on 'Suggest other Corrections' under the 'Suggest Edits' button and type your message to the memorial manager. Be sure to include your relationship to the person and any other reason for the transfer request. This message will be sent to the member, even if there is not an email address listed on their profile.

❤ Edits should be accompanied with documentation unless it is obvious with information that is already on the memorial such as grave stone, obit etc. Please do not use some one's family tree as documentation. And a census is not documentation.
