Find a Grave ID

Bio

I have been a genealogist for about 20+ years and really love the search. Find a Grave had been quite disappointing to me several years ago, however I have noticed many positive changes and so here I am back again! I am currently working on Volume 5 of my Green, Taylor and Adair County death records and Find a Grave has been very helpful. Death certificates of old are not necessarily correct or accurate, therefore it is really never a good idea to use them to make memorials without researching them first. I find mistakes on the memorials and am trying to send out edits, hopefully to not upset anyone or make them feel as though they are being "picked on". Genealogy is supposed to be accurate and based on facts with sources. I encourage edits sent to me, that shows someone cares! Many memorials I have made several years ago need some work on them and that as everything is a work in progress. Again, send those edits! Genealogy sometimes has to be a team effort. I am not a fan of the world family tree concept however, because there is way too much room for errors. I get a bit upset any time I go to the family search tree for this exact reason. I prefer to complete my tree myself, not have millions of other potential persons adding and removing things from it. Ancestry public trees are just as bad due to many people not doing their own research. Incorrect information posted for anyone to see can cause some real genealogy nightmares and messes that are very time consuming to clear up.
I am a volunteer at the Taylor Regional Archive Center in Campbellsville and we house a wealth of information to utilize. I am also a member of the Jane Lampton DAR Chapter, Adair County Genealogical Society and Taylor County Historical Society. Genealogy is my passion and I strive to achieve accuracy in everything that I do.
If I manage a memorial of someone who you are related to, I will gladly transfer it to you, with proof of course, providing I am not closer in relation. I am not a memorial hoarder nor a "vulture" (one who puts memorials on before the person is buried). I notice with the recent changes, the deceased person's actual family has the opportunity to put the memorial up themselves, this is wonderful!
I can easily be reached via email, as always be kind and have a blessed day!
