As spring starts blossoming, I will be photographing in Bay, Midland, Isabella, most of Gladwin and Arenac counties, and parts of Tuscola and Genesee. If you have any requests, please email them to me.

I am happy to help people with their personal research as an act of kindness within limits of what is readily available to me. Because of arthritis, I no longer to do major travel often to help others with their research. If you requests are within 50 miles of Midland, I am happy to visit county buildings, courthouses, cemeteries, churches, and collegiate archives for you.

I plan quarterly travel to the Polish-American Research Institute, Archives and Library of Michigan, and Burton Collection at the Detroit Public Library. The lists I work on those trips are long and can only spend a few hours at the machines, so there are no guarantees that your request will be filled quickly. I suggest major research requests be submitted to the proper holder of the records through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

I am a military daughter and mother. All military requests get top priority. If you know the name of the funeral home that handled someone's burial, I strongly suggest you contact them for a copy of the military service request that they filed at the time of your loved one's death. You can also contact your local Veteran's Affairs office for records of deceased veterans and service members.

It bears repeating that the right to privacy ends at death, which is why we are able to research records of deceased people and publish those results. As researchers, we strive to protect people from unwarranted harassment during their lives. So if there is information that you don't want published, please send a polite request. But know that the truth is the goal of all research and things like bigamy, divorces, criminal turmoil and the such never really go to the grave with a person.

Due to recent events, any rude comments or messages will either be deleted or sent to the powers that be. You may wish to include copies of source documents, as all edits and corrections will be verified for accuracy.

Please note that there are literally thousands of hours of effort put into researching these memorials. I will transfer legitimate relatives, but not entire sets of families, in keeping with the Find A Grave structure. If you have a large family, I suggest you check out the Virtual Cemetery guide. It is a wonderful way to keep all of your family members in one place, while respecting the efforts of everyone who created these memorials and has worked so hard to link all family members together.

With regard to memorials which mention the names of living people, I follow the guidelines of this site:

"What about the privacy of living family members?
An individual's right to privacy disappears when they are deceased. The opinions of the relatives of the deceased fall on all sides of the question. Some people are angry to find a loved one when they come to Find A Grave, even if the memorial was added by another relative, as is usually the case, and some people are elated and send us notes of thanks for building an online memorial to their family member. If an immediate family member contacts us and wants information removed, we generally do so as a matter of respect for their wishes but we treat each request on a case by case basis. The names of living survivors will be removed from the biography section of a memorial upon request."

I encourage people with long messages to please email me and not post on my wall.
