Most of the Find A Grave memorials administered by me are those of my own ancestors and I take the preservation of their memorials and records very seriously.

Sharing

Because I do not believe it is right for descendants to possessively claim sole ownership of ancestors' images we are merely lucky enough to inherit, I am happy to freely share photos and documents I post to this site.

Finding what I write copied and pasted word-for-word on other websites and in family genealogy books, however, is not cool. That is not sharing, it is plagiarizing.

If information or photos are taken from this site and published elsewhere, cite the authors and photo contributors.

Guidelines for posting to memorials

Do not add merely rumored relatives to a memorial. Find a Grave is not a genealogy site, but rather, it is a memorial site. Please show respect for the deceased and their families by including only verified relatives and legally wed spouses.

If there is someone you want added and there was enough of a proven relationship, let me know who and why and I can add them to the bio with explanation.

Do not post documents to photos without clearing it with me, as most documents are not appropriate for the photo section. Also, do not post any images of graves and/or headstones other than the actual graves and headstones of the deceased being memorialized.

Do not include biographical information in the "flowers" notes, which violates Find a Grave rules. If you want something added to the biography, let me know.

Finally, do not use flashing images, moving images, and/or music as they are not dignified.

I will request the removal of anything inappropriate and/or unethical, and if the contributor does not cooperate, I will have Find a Grave remove it.

If you believe a memorial has inaccurate information, please message me with the accurate information and its verification source/s. Collaboration is the key to accuracy.
