Joel, did you know this memorial is a double of Memorial 112401566? Would you please be so kind as to delete yours as it is very confusing. Thank you, Kaye Harkins McClintock #47734417

Hi Joel, I always read that John and Rutha Banks Thames gave the land for the cemetary. Is that correct? You were asking about Rutha Banks Thames Allen's tombstone. She was John and Rutha Cobb Thames daughter. Is her stone missing? I know her Mother and Dad were buried on land they ownes and somehow someone fenced it in. some of the families got together and put across for John a nd a memorial stone for Rutha down the road. My grandfather was Benjamin Thames son of William T. Thames and Frances Evelyn Glasscock Thames. I have n't been to Rocky Mt. in several years. Sincerely, Linda Sanford

Can you tell me where you are looking? What county/ counties your Allen ancestors are located? I take pictures mainly in Bibb, Shelby, Jefferson counties in Alabama, but can go to others if needed. town names would also be helpful.

Sorry I'm almost a year late seeing your message. The cemetery is Chapman Family Cemetery. It is located on the old Chapman property on top of a beautiful hill in Coosa County, Alabama. It is close to the intersection of Highway 280 and Highway 9 in Kelleyton Alabama. The cemetery is located on a dirt road. There is a gate at the beginning of the road, but it is has been unlocked every time I have gone. There are approx. 100 graves there and most of them are marked. The cemetery is surrounded by an old fence. Someone keeps the grounds around the cemetery cut. It is such a peaceful place, all you hear are the birds and the wind blowing through the trees.

Sorry for the slow response, as I have not check the messages in a long time. I do not know the family history. I live in the area and was taking pictures. I also looked up his CSA regiment. If you are looking for family history in SW Arkansas, I would recommend contacting the SW Arkansas Regional Archives (lots of local primary sources!) and Sevier County Museum and genealogy group, or the Arkansas state archives.
The area in which he is buried is called Brownstown, which is no longer an actual town but a rural ranching area. The cemetery is off of Hwy 234 in Sevier County, Arkansas. There are many civil war veterans buried at the cemetery. Apparently this regiment had a lot of civil war journals and letters, so I would encourage you to research and see whether anything may come up about your ancestor. The local archives has alot of primary sources from the civil war. Good luck to you!

I am related to Mullikan Norred. His wife was Mary Kyser, I got the name Mary Reeder a while back from someone else but after researching I found they were wrong. I'm working on correcting things now.

Perdelia Thames Allen, Find A Grave Memorial# 90104051 has been transferred to you. I have other Allens - if they related, will be glad to transfer as well.
