Bio

I am a descendant of the DUFFIELD clan of Braxton and Pocahontas Counties in West Virginia. I also am a descendant of the JEWETT family which like the DUFFIELDs arrived in the 1600's. A large group left around 1836 and migrated to northern Illinois. For reasons not recorded the Duffield changed the name to Dufield after arriving in Illinois. The origins of recent surnames I have determined are: REED (England), JEWETT (England then Vermont), WILLE (Germany), MENTZER (Germany), RANDALL (Ireland), WYANT (England). and PALMES(Germany). The REED and WILLE families emigrated in the miiddle 19th century. These ancestors all settled in McHenry County, Illinois centered around Woodstock being mostly farmers. Many are buried in the small cemeteries in the area including the Dufield Cemetery, Oakland Cemetery and Fairview Cemetery near Woodstock. The DUFIELD/DUFFIELD line traces back to Philadelphia at around 1681 before the arrival of William Penn. I have found a few of my ancestors burial sites around Philadelphia.

I am having particular difficulty finding the location of the parents of my Great Grandmother Jessie Randall Wille who was born in Louisville, Ky. I can't seem to get much information on them from Ancestry censuses. There names were Howard Randall and Louise Hardy and were recent immigrants from Ireland.
