NEW 2018: I have created a virtual cemetery, "THE RADIUM GIRLS", to document the thousands of women who worked as watch dial painters for various firms in Waterbury, CT, Orange, NJ, Ottawa, IL and New York City amongst a few. It is my hope that these women will receive the due respect and honor they deserve in their brave tenacity suffering from the ill effects of radium poisoning whether short-lived or a lifetime. If you come across any obituaries and/or memorials that represent these "radium girls" please contact me to include them in this virtual cemetery. Many of these women were courageous enough to not only manage the pain and suffering but offered themselves for research to understand the damage radium has on the human body. I highly recommend Kate Moore's book on these brave women. Her book gives a more personal view of the challenges faced by the victims. Many thanks offered in advance!

NEW YORK: My maternal grandfather, Harry Nelson Foshay, was a teacher and guidance counselor in the Peekskill school system, and my great grandfather and great grandmother were Dr. J. Russell Foshay and Isabella Pierce of Peekskill, New York. I am the 2nd great granddaughter of Nelson Gray Foshay and Amanda Wright Wessells, owners of the Highland Democrat newspaper of Westchester County, New York and Caleb Edgar Pierce and Emma Augusta Pugsley of Peekskill, New York. My great grandparents, Wilhelm Magnus Hiort (Hjort) and Charlotta Olivia Andersson, both hailed from Sweden and settled in Peekskill. I take great joy in tracing the family line in Westchester County, New York.

PENNSYLVANIA: My paternal grandfather, Carl Christian Bach hailed from Germany but it was his father, Carl Christian Herman "Herman" Bach who along with a brother, Christian Wilhelm Bach, found their way to the USA and settled in Luzerne County from Rhoden, Germany. My paternal grandmother, Anna Helena Andersson, along with her siblings each made their way from Goteborg, Sweden to the USA settling in Luzerne county.
