Bio

I am a retired auditor/tenured auditing professor. I did the genealogy work on my own family many years ago - so I am not related to most of the folks I am currently setting up on FAG.

I have been conducting genealogical research for the Hadeland Lag's Emigrant Project for over 20 years - and have become expert in this area. Regarding FAG, I typically work on cemeteries in areas where emigrants from Hadeland (the area around Gran, Norway) settled. So if you have questions about an edit I sent you about a Hadeland emigrant or their family, please send me a message - so I can tell you the source of any information in question. (I have access to much info that is not available to the general public, including the Lag's huge database and over 1700 emigrant family forms.)

If you have additions or corrections for sites I manage, please use the edit tab to enter the correct date(s) or linkup ID #'s. Emails sent with information requesting linkups will not be processed. Also, please do not send lengthy transcriptions of death records, birth records, census records, and the like. They will NOT be posted. A nice obituary belongs in that field, not a research record.

There is a wealth of genealogical information out there beyond what is posted to wonderful sites like Ancestry.com and FamilySearch. So please don't reject edits outright that cannot be verified by searching these popular genealogical sites. Expert genealogists often go far beyond what is available there. In your research don't forget to contact the local and state genealogical societies - which often have cemetery listings, county history books, etc. Church records, both in the US and elsewhere have a wealth of information, are often available on-line. Emigrant organizations such as the Norwegian Lags often provide genealogical resources. National genealogy sites such as the Norwegian Digitalarkivet site provide vast resources - often with English prompts. And don't forget the resources of the 2 leading genealogical libraries - the one at Salt Lake City and the Allen County Genealogy Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana (which I used extensively in the past).

I follow FAG's rules for transfers. So, if you are requesting the transfer of the grave of a close family member, please use the Edit tab to send your request for each individual and tell me how you are related. Simply trying to collect all the memorials on your extended family tree (or everyone in a particular community) is NOT appropriate. Use family tree software... We all need to try to avoid setting up duplicates. But it is very easy to do accidentally.

Finally, remember that FAG is run by volunteers. So please use please and thank you - and be patient. We all do the best we can. But sometimes errors do slip in.
