Born in Center Ridge (BirdTown). Traveled from AR to CA via train with my mother, Alta Shipp Epperson (daughter of Charles Wilson Shipp and Melissa Scroggin Shipp), and sister, Helen Marie. Dad, Joe Epperson (son of Tom Epperon and Margaret Guinn Epperson of Morrilton, AR), came ahead of us seeking employment. Dad found employment at the Naval Air Station, Alameda, CA. Mom found work at Todd Shipyards. Dad eventually opened his own business: Epperson's Auto Service. Met my husband-to-be, Bill, from Tuckerman, AR., in 1956. Bill is the son of Henry "Alonzo" and Minerva Hibarger Matheney. Together, we raised seven children. We have ten grandchildren. What a delight! We proudly boast about our family.
