Though my families' surnames sound English and German, I am 18% Czech from the original Moravia, (then part of the AustroHungarian Empire), and the northern region called Silesia or Moravia-Silesia where there was strong German influence along the border of Poland. The Moravian people were on Grandma's line. 3 of her grandparents immigrated from Moravia= Schmid, Zwiener, Janicek, and a Great-grandparent generation which stayed in Czech had names Hermeth and Zohner, and maybe Matig.
