I have to add this before my profile: I'm realizing now that I have created duplicate memorials for my ancestors. So, I'd like to apologize to anyone who had previously created the records I duplicated. I jumped into this site without reading the directions or rules very thoroughly! DUH! I think I just naively thought people were only entering their own relatives & ancestors so therefore mine would not be in the database yet. I greatly admire the hard work done by others & am constantly amazed at how many memorials various individuals have created.
I'll do my homework from now on before entering new records!
-------------------------------------------------
I first started asking questions about my family's history when I was about 15 years old.
My mother had a great memory & knew details & stories about all her cousins & aunts & uncles and this peaked my interest.
When I was 15 my grandfather, Hiram John Dougherty Latchford, whom I'm named after, took me to meet his cousin, Helen Latchford, who had been doing the Latchford genealogy for decades. She died not too long after our meeting & we inherited all of her research material.
Thirty years later I bought Family Tree Maker & started inputting information. My mother supplied me with dates for many people and the game was on!
I drifted in & out of doing research for years. Now that I'm retired & recently joined Ancestry.com, I'm trying to fine tune all the information I have which includes the burial places of many people in my family tree.
Please feel free to use my photos for personal or non-profit ventures.
