When possible, I try to transcribe obituaries for older, historical memorials, and to cross reference the obituaries with other historical databases to obtain/verify family information. These old obituaries have provided me with so much invaluable information in my own genealogical research. When doing so, I try to use the same spellings, phrasing and punctuation found in the original text, even if modern styles have changed. That said, if you see an error, please let me know so I can correct it.

I generally use dictation software and then edit any transcription inaccuracies prior to adding the information to the memorial. I try to edit carefully, but sometimes a wrong word can slip past. We are all human, after all, but as I said, accuracy is important.
