* Lyman C. Rowley (my 2nd great grandfather), and my five uncles James, George, Amos and Volney Rowley, and Napoleon Thoroman all rode with Company H, 4th Iowa Cavalry during the Civil War.

* William W. Clark (my 2nd great grandfather) served in Company A, 1st Iowa Infantry and then in Company B, 22nd Iowa Infantry.

* Alexander Kelly (my great grandfather) served in Company I, 2nd Regiment Maryland Infantry, Potomac Home Brigade.
