I have had considerable success in finding wider links and establishing relationships with other family researchers through once very active online forums such as genforum.genealogy.com, which is a good forum that has several years of postings and replies that you can browse through. Postings and replies have dropped way off in recent years, but there is still a lot of information and some activity there.

I like Find-A-Grave because it is an excellent way to document known facts. When they carve it in stone, the facts have more permanence and are less questionable.

The surnames I have been working on:
*In my family; Oberlin, Walters, Humbarger, Eaton, Opdyke, Faber, Shough, Sines, Little.
*In my wife's family; Gerencser, Strubing, Snyder, Friend, Ridenour, Burley, Wentworth, Eaton, Gordon, Duval.

I commend those who have done the hard work of documenting from cemetery/burial records. There is a lot of undocumented information that still needs to be entered. I have been enthused in documenting from cemetery photos, which has turned into a good way to seek out some obscure facts that helps to fill in the blanks. I will take some grave photos in some NW Ohio and NE Indiana counties, especially if I have family to research there also.
