Back in 1977, my husband gave me a book entitled "Our Family Roots." Since that time, there has been a dedication to learn about our families before us. It has been a fascinating, unique, frustrating experience!

The search began LONG before home computers and the internet, Ancestry.com, Find A Grave and all the other genealogical websites. People look at me like I am speaking a foreign language when I mention the Soundex system! I have spent thousands of hours doing research, whether it be at a historical society, church, cemetery, the local Mormon Center or the National Archives.

Unfortunately, this project was put on hold for a while since we were care giving our elderly, widowed moms. Since they have both passed, I have gotten back into the "dirt" of digging up roots!

Because I have gotten so much information from Find A Grave, I felt it was time to pay back for those of you who do not live locally. I go out cemetery tromping in my spare time.

Oddly enough, this book he bought 35 years ago is still empty but the four-drawer filing cabinet beside my desk is bulging!

Good deeds do not go unnoticed!
