I have been working on my family tree at Ancestry for about four years. My primary interest is the Hewitt Family of the German line.

Originally, the family name in Germany was spelled "Hojeth" (R.M. Bell). The first Hewitt, Ludwig Huyett (FAGM# 60361928), of the German origin was born in America -- 7 Jan 1739 in Philadelphia (likely Germantown) to Frantz Carl and Mary Hojeth.

The Hojeth name was eventually anglicized to "Hewitt". Throughout history the name has been Hojeth/Hughett/Huiet/Huyat/Huyet/Huyett/Huyette/Huet/Heuitt/Hewit/Hewitt.

Other families of interest is Kistler, Brown, Ammon, Bailey, Simon, Dustman, Mahnenschmidt, and Smallsreed.

Each person in our tree is precious, but it would be tragic to learn of their life, their loves, their tragedies, their joys and sorrows, and accomplishments as examples of "living stones" (1 Peter 2:5) without first acknowledging and responding to God's purpose for our lives.

This song reminds us that Death is not final.

A headstone in a lonely cemetery on a wintry bleak cold day is God's billboard of grace to us. A reminder that death is inevitable but yet His grace abounds.

That little dash in that stone measures God's time he has given to each man and woman -- a measure of grace. The dash is like a cross beam with the birth date where Jesus's right wrist was pierced and his left hand pierced at the death date. Alpha and Omega. Beginning and the End.

The free gift of eternal life is available to all those who trust the ministry, suffering, death and resurrection of his son, Jesus the Christ. Only believe..and by His righteousness we leave "death in his grave" and enter Heaven.

"For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him" (John 3:17).
