Bio

I am an amateur genealogist with a love of family and history and as a former teacher,I am determined to find factual information to back up my findings.
Family stories add interest but often the stories don't match with the records and facts found through research.
I am a member of the DAR in Christian County, MO and also the Mary Whitney Phelp's chapter of the DUV in Springfield, MO . My ancestor for DUV is Leander Andrew A. Potter who fought for the Union in AR. He was the son of Benjamin Potter and Jane McCaig.
I have met many wonderful people through genealogy and always love to help my friends with their family searches. I have found that attending events like Ancestor Fairs and Genealogical Society events helps me connect with others and learn more about a subject that I am passionate about. And connecting on genealogy sites like Find-a-Grave, GenForum, and various Facebook genealogy pages, has led me to MANY distant cousins that I never knew existed! The internet has made this a small, small, world in terms of connecting.
