Born June 28, 1948 in Springfield, Illinois, son of Joseph Francis Horrighs and Rosemary Estes. Started doing genealogy when my grandmother gave me a box of her father's (John Douglas Reynolds)papers around 1968. Moved to Florida in 1978 and graduated from Univ. of Florida with B.A. in American History in Dec. 1984. Avid historian and part time Civil War reenactor. Try to return to Springfield every Memorial Day to decorate my parents, grandparents, great grandparents and other ancestors graves. I have a particular interest in the 5th Iowa Infantry as I have been working on a regimental history of this unit since 1988.
