Bio

Hello: I am principally interested in finding links to the Kimberl(e)y, McCarthy, Lavery and Peters families.

The KIMBERLY/WODDARD family came up from the USA to the Perth, ON, area around 1818. Some stayed in the Perth area and others spread throughout Ontario. Some then went to Saskatchewan and BC.

The MANTLER family, originally farmers in the Ukraine, emigrated to the USA. Some came up to Saskatchewan from Texas and S. Dakota around 1901 after the disastrous hurricane in Galveston, Texas, in 1900.

The PETERS family came from the Crimea, through England to Canada. They settled in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

The MCCARTHY family moved from Bandon, Cork, Ireland, to Ottawa, ON, in the 1840s and then my branch of the McCarthys moved to Winnipeg and some, later to BC. Another branch moved from Ottawa to Kenora, Tulsa, Denver, Los Angeles and Albuquerque. Some remained in the Ottawa area but, so far. living relatives have been hard to trace.

The LYON family moved from London, England, to Ottawa, Ontario, and then moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The LAVERY/TURKINGTON family, moved from Magheralin,County Down, south of Belfast to Winnipeg in 1911 and others to Treherne, Manitoba, in 1928. A few of the Canadian branch of the family remain in Manitoba but some are in Ontario, British Columbia & Oklahoma. Some of the Laverys, however, remain in N. Ireland not under the name "Lavery" as they are the descendants of two female lines.) Bill Lavery, May 22, 2013
(Recently a branch of my Lavery family which emigrated to Baltimore, Maryland, in the 1800s and whose descendants are still living there has been discovered. Jan. 2014)
