I spend a lot of time working on ancestry and over time have really developed an appreciation for this website and the people that go out and take these pictures of headstones that most will never be able to travel to see.For ME the spirit of Find a Grave should be to spread information to families so they can know and have a record of where their ancestors and loved ones are located so they can see with their own eyes the dates they were born and the inscriptions left by their families. It is to help contribute to an archival searchable record of burials on the planet for all of mankind. I don't personally believe that anyone should need recognition for taking a picture of someone else's headstone. This isn't art- It is a donation of love for the history of the human race. A donation meaning I expect nothing. Therefore, you have my permission to use any of my gravestone photos for ancestry or whatever purposes you need. I am pretty sure I can live without getting credit as I believe sharing creates good karma on it's own. You may give me credit if you want to, but I am not going to hunt anyone down and say "Hey I took that picture! Why is credit not given?" I will be okay. If I take a photo of a stone that has no online memorial yet, I will go ahead and make one. I don't think that people should be memorial hordes and deny transfer of requests if they had absolutely no relationship with the deceased or their family. I will transfer to anyone connected to any of my memorials even if it was just friendship. (my own family excluded of course unless you are of closer relation) The more the memorials can be spread out to people connected to the deceased, the better they can be maintained, cared for and updated. There is no way that a person who has 36,000 memorials can maintain and update and give proper attention to that many memorials. I'm just saying...
