Bio

I was born in Dublin and raised in Carrick-on-Suir, the home of The Clancy Brothers, Sean Kelly and Sam Bennett, the world-class Pro Cyclists. Have lived in London since 1988. My main interest is in researching men who served in the 88th & 94th Foot, The Connaught Rangers. I wrote a dissertation on The Rangers for my MA. I knew WW1 & Boer War Veterans who served in the Connaught Rangers when I was a child in Carrick. My first cousin 4 x removed was the John Hynes the first Goldminer killed at The Eureka Stockade near Ballarat. My Great-Grandfather James Hynes and his daughter Clare were lost on 10 Oct 1918 when RMS Leinster was sunk by the German Submarine UB-123 off Dublin Bay. Their bodies were never recovered.
