My interest in family history has brought me to this website and to be a contributor. My family attended a reunion in Meraker, Norway in 1999 to meet relatives and stay at the farm which my father was born. It is still a functioning farm and had a hostel/campground on the property. The farm is still owned by relatives. Gudmund Brende was from Meraker and settled in the Baltic/Renner area outside of Sioux Falls, SD. Gudmund and the Mayor of Meraker were two people involved in bringing Norwegians to America. Goodman picked up most of these immigrants with horse and wagon when they arrived on the train in Sioux Falls, SD. My wife is interested in the our family histories and is my soulmate. Our journey to find and document our relatives is one of shared interest. Her Grandfather owned and operated Lone Tree, located between Egan and Colman at the junction of Hwy 34 and old Hwy 77.

From 1970 until retirement in 2010, served in the Army and Air National Guard in SD, NE and KS.
