For his birthday, a man got a burial plot from his wife. When he didn't get a gift from her the next year, he complained to her. She explained "you didn't use what I gave you last year!" (Author unknown)

"The destiny of man is, They come, they suffer, they go and are forgotten. But shall we leave no memorial to future generations of our existence, shall we not add our mite to the general stock of knowledge, morality and religion. Shall we not strive to make our descendants more happy, more virtuous than our ancestors. If so we shall not have lived in vain, but shall have added a link to the progressive chain to perfection, and future generations will honor us not as individuals, but as part of a community who have employed their energies and wisdom for the amelioration and elevation of the Human family." Stephen Mack, Jr. 1848

I found the Find A Grave website on Nov. 24, 2013 while researching my relatives and began entering memorials for them. I will try to get some photo requests in this area when the weather and time permits. People are helping me, so I believe it's important that I help someone else if I can. If you need help with something from this area (Stephenson County Illinois) just let me know.

I believe Find-a-Grave is a fantastic tool to document your ancestors and have them linked together like a family tree. I especially love that all this information is available to anyone without joining or paying to see it. In most genealogy search sites people are building their family trees and then no one can view it unless they join and are then charged. That's just not right to me. I believe it should always be available for all, free of charge! Find-a-Grave memorials even show up in Google, Yahoo, etc. searches!

NOTE: If I have posted anything you feel inappropriate, please contact me and I will remove it.
TRANSFERS: Unless the memorial I created is for my family member, I am more than happy to transfer it to you, just ask.
EDITS: I accept edits in either emails, thru the edit function, or messages, whichever you feel most comfortable sending it to me. I'm here to help!
PHOTOS & BIO INFO: You are welcome to use any of my photos or bio info. that I have posted. If you want to acknowledge me, thank you, if not, I won't lose any sleep over it. In my opinion, this stuff is meant to be shared for research by family members. Lighten up people!
Some of my photos didn't come out too good! If you post a better photo than I have posted, let me know and I will remove mine. And thank you!
OBITS: I will gladly post obits for you because I believe they provide important information and in most cases give us insight into their life and history. I would rather post the obit than have you post a photo of the obit. Thank you.
PLOT / MARKER LOCATIONS:
I believe something in the plot field is better than nothing. Info like 'Section 3 Lot 5 Grave 3' is worthless unless you have a map of the cemetery. I prefer giving directional info such as 'North side Row 3'. This will help relatives any day or time of the day without additional help! Some don't agree with this, but to each their own. Also, GPS Coordinates are very helpful if you click on "show map" in the memorial.

In my mind what we do in FAG is not for our own recognition, but only for the ancestors that we are documenting and their families. Who does what doesn't really matter as long as it gets done. Thank you for everyone's hard work on FAG.
