I found the Find A Grave website on Nov. 24, 2013 while researching my relatives and began entering memorials for them. I will try to get some photo requests in this area when the weather and time permits. People are helping me, so I believe it's important that I help someone else if I can. If you need help with something from this area (Stephenson County Illinois) just let me know.

I believe Find-a-Grave is a fantastic tool to document your ancestors and have them linked together like a family tree. I especially love that all this information is available to anyone without joining or paying to see it. In most genealogy search sites people are building their family trees and then no one can view it unless they join and are then charged. That's just not right to me. I believe it should always be available for all, free of charge! Find-a-Grave memorials even show up in Google, Yahoo, etc. searches!

OBITS: I will gladly post obits for you because I believe they provide important information and in most cases give us insight into their life and history. I would rather post the obit than have you post a photo of the obit. Thank you.
PLOT / MARKER LOCATIONS:
I believe something in the plot field is better than nothing. Info like 'Section 3 Lot 5 Grave 3' is worthless unless you have a map of the cemetery. I prefer giving directional info such as 'North side Row 3'. This will help relatives any day or time of the day without additional help! Some don't agree with this, but to each their own. Also, GPS Coordinates are very helpful if you click on "show map" in the memorial.

In my mind what we do in FAG is not for our own recognition, but only for the ancestors that we are documenting and their families. Who does what doesn't really matter as long as it gets done. Thank you for everyone's hard work on FAG.
